Indian women have been treated differently since ancient India. Even after so much progress and development, in the global gender gap report published in 2020, India’s rank was 112th. Gender inequality and discrimination still exists, in various parts of the country and remain to go unnoticed. Women are oppressed due to their poverty and gender, thus they will not only take great responsibilities and hardships to fend themselves and the family. They are also the victims of any violence, assault at the both the community as well as personal level. Prostitution, girl child marriages, which places extreme burdens on women of the community.
Even though women spend 90% of their income on their families and contributing the rural economy, they are without any ownership or control on productive assets. Thus, they are landless, have no access to credit, technical skills to develop their managerial and enterprenual knowledge.
So, LEADS will give top priority on gender discrimination issues and give equal importance for men and women in provisions of their socio- economic, education, health and other cultural sectors.
