Injecting drug users (IDU’s) considered to be most high-risk group when compared with other groups.

 NACO (National Aids Control Organization) is the funding unit with guiding system and functioning with the support of APSACS (Andhra Pradesh State Aids Control Society).

Goal: To halt and reverse of  HIV/AIDS in injecting drug users and their sexual partners and sustained improvement in access to the provision of quality health care for injecting drug users.

Objectives: To increase the levels of risk perception on transmission of HIV and other blood borne viruses.

• To reduce the risk of transmission of HIV and other BBVs through sharing of contaminated needles, syringes and unsafe sexual practices amongst IDUs.
• Reduction in injecting drug use and improvement in overall quality of life from switching from injecting use to Oral substitution therapy (OST).
• Improved sexual health leading to reduced risk of STI being a vector for HIV transmission.
• To increase the utilisation of risk reduction services among IDUs and their sexual
• Improved the quality of life of HIV positive injecting drug users and their sexual partners.
• To create an enabling environment for IDUs to mitigate and reduce stigma and discrimination associated with the drug use and HIV.
